PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure the reliability of a light emitting element such as an LED by performing emitting operation for AF auxiliary light normally to obtain focusing even in high-temperature environment. SOLUTION: When a shutter button 15 is half-depressed and an object is so dark that the LED 13 for auxiliary light should emit the auxiliary light, the LED 13 for auxiliary light emits the auxiliary light while a focusing lens 2 makes a scan and a microcomputer 9 obtains contrast information on the subject. Once a focusing position is determined, the LED 13 stops emitting the auxiliary light. When deciding whether the AF auxiliary light needs to be emitted according to lightness information, the microcomputer 9 obtains ambient temperature data on the LED 13 by a thermistors 14. Then the microcomputer 9 varies the light intensity of the AF auxiliary light according to the obtained temperature data. When the temperature is high, the current of the LED 13 is decreased to make the AF auxiliary light dark. |
