PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure high durability, high safety and high reliability without the generation of a failure such as squeaking of a blade or curling of the blade in an image forming apparatus using a cleaning blade 6 as the cleaning means for an image carrier 1. SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus, fluororesin particles and polyallylate provided with a constitutional unit indicated by a specified formula 1 are contained in the surface layer of the image carrier 1. In this case, an angleαformed by a line c connecting a contact point b of the cleaning blade 6 and the image carrier 1 with the image carrier center O and a line e connecting an apex d of the image carrier 1 against the horizontal surface and the image carrier center O is 0 deg.<=α<=90 deg. on the downstream side of the rotating direction of the image carrier.
