摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for evaluating and testing characteristics of a metal gasket, capable of precisely evaluating the characteristics of a metal gasket. SOLUTION: The annular test metal gasket 32 is held between first and second metal flange members 11 and 12 with a prescribed clamping force. The metal gasket and the test metal flange member clamped with the prescribed clamping force are heated at a prescribed temperature for a prescribed period of time inside a heating furnace and made to deteriorate with the heat. After that, a load is applied to the first metal flange member in the direction orthogonally crossing the center axis of the metal gasket with the second metal flange member being fixed. The quantity of displacement of the first metal flange member when loaded is measured and the leakage of the metal gasket is inspected, so that the leakage rate relative to the quantity, of displacement of the first metal flange member is calculated.
