PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a powder mixture for powder metallurgy by which a rust-preventing effect can be easily improved with the least alteration of the conventional process. SOLUTION: Metallic soap of metals with low-temperature volatility, such as bismuth and indium, having also the effect of a lubricant is added to metal powder for powder metallurgy, such as copper powder, and they are mixed, by which the metallic components with low-temperature volatility adhere uniformly to the surface of the powder. By this method, the powder mixture for powder metallurgy which exhibits the rust-preventing effect while keeping compactibility can be obtained.
