PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing polysuccinimide having a high mol.wt. in a simple process. SOLUTION: This method for producing the polysuccinimide comprises subjecting aspartic acid to dehydrocondensation in the presence of condensed phosphoric acid in a solvent containing a sulfur-containing aliphatic organic solvent.
