PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To noticeably enhance transmittance, to improve contrast, to improve color reproducibility and to enhance color purity, in a transmissive mode, and to improve compatibility of color reproducibility between a reflective mode and the transmissive mode. SOLUTION: In a semitransmissive liquid crystal display device 17, a projecting array group 18 consisting of a number of arrayed projecting parts is formed on a glass substrate 2, which is covered with a semitransmissive film 19 with light-through holes 26 from above and further a color filter 6, an overcoat layer 7 and a transparent electrode 8 are formed thereon. Also a transparent electrode 10 and an alignment layer 11 are successively formed on a glass substrate 3. The film thickness of the projecting array group 18 is set to be 0.4-2.0 μm and, at the same time, notched parts p are formed by notching resin parts of the projecting array group 18 corresponding to the parts where the light-through holes 26 of the semitransmissive film 19 are formed. |
