PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stop driving a focusing lens through focus detection processing for a specific time after optical zooming operation ends. SOLUTION: A zoom lens 2 varies the field angle of a lens unit 1. The focusing lens 3 adjusts a focusing position. A zoom lens 4 drives the zoom lens 2 to move forward and backward along the optical axis. A zoom motor driver 5 outputs a driving signal to the zoom motor 4. A focusing motor 6 drives the focusing lens 3 to move forward and backward along the optical axis. A focusing motor driver 7 outputs a driving signal to the focusing motor 6. An image pickup element 10 picks up a subject image and outputs an image pickup signal. A focus evaluated value computing element 9 computes a focus evaluated value from the image pickup signal used for focus detection. A focusing control part 8 outputs a focusing lens driving command so that the focus evaluated value is maximized. The focusing control circuit 8 inhibits the focusing motor 6 from being driven until a counted value counted after the completion of zoom operation exceeds a threshold. |
