PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid developer excellent in dispersion stability, redispersibility and fixing property even in an electrophotographic plate making system in which the developing to fixing processes are fast operated and a large-size master plate is used. SOLUTION: The liquid developer for electrostatic photography is prepared by dispersing the following dispersion resin particles (CSR) in a nonwater solvent having >=10<9>Ω.cm electric resistance and <=3.5 dielectric constant. The resin particles have a layered structure and are obtained by seed polymerization reaction of a dispersion liquid containing monomers (A) which are soluble in the nonwater solvent and become insoluble by the polymerization, monofunctional monomers (B) having substituents containing fluorine atoms and/or silicon atoms, a star resin [P] for stabilizing the dispersion which is soluble with the nonwater solvent and is a polymer containing at least a specified component, and seed particles (CR) having 0.05 to 1.0μm average particle size.
