PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive polyester fiber that has all of slinkiness, light-weight and firmness and resilience and provide woven and knitted fabrics using the same. SOLUTION: The polyester modified cross-section fiber characteristically comprises a polyester including >=85% of ethylene terephthalate units, having single filament fineness of 0.3-2.0 denier, Y-shaped filament cross section and the modification coefficient (H/W) of the cross section of 2-6.
