PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous gel aromatic having a stable gel form which captures an aldehyde compound chemically, decreases free aldehyde compounds harmful to a human body and the environment and exhibits deodorization as well and a composition which is a raw material of the same. SOLUTION: The composition for the aqueous gel aromatic contains 100 pts.mass of a diacetoneacrylamide-copolymer modified polyvinyl alcohol and/or its modified compound (1), 0.1-1,000 pts.mass of a compound which acts as a crosslinking agent of (1) and has a functional group reactive with aldehydes and capable of fixing them, 100-10,000 pts.mass of water and 0.1-1,000 pts.mass of a perfume. The aqueous gel aromatic or a transparent aqueous gel aromatic is obtained by a gelation reaction of the composition.
