PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automated storage and retrieval warehouse capable of suppressing enlargement and weight increase of a crane and facilitating approach of the crane into a running route. SOLUTION: A guide rail 13 for guiding horizontal movement of the crane 11 is disposed at a predetermined height of a shelf 12. The crane comprises a mast 14, a fork 15 being hoisted along the mast, a running device 16 that is disposed at the lower end of the mast and moves the mast along the running route, a slider 17 that is integrally disposed in the midway of the mast and is engaged with a guide rail movably. The running device comprises a base 23 mounted to the mast vertically movably, a drive wheel 25 that is mounted to the base and is butted on the running route, a motor 26 for rotating and driving the drive wheel, and an energizing member 27 disposed between the mast and the base for pressing the drive wheel into contact with the floor surface by pressing the base downwardly.
