<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet supply device with a rocking stacking rack, producing a less variation in position of sheets coming into feeding means. SOLUTION: A sheet supply tray 18 is provided with the rocking stacking rack 56 on which a number of sheets are stacked. The upper part of the stacking rack 56 is provided with a supply head 20 which is composed of a nudger roller 64, a feed roller 66 and retard roller 68. The rotation of the nudger roller 64 causes the sheets on the stacking rack 56 to be pushed out to a nip portion 80 between the feed roller 66 and the retard roller 68. The sheet push-out position of the nudger roller 64 is detected by position detecting means 86. When remainders of the sheets on the stacking rack 56 are decreased, the angle of the sheets to be pushed out of the nudger roller 64 is increased. However, the sheet push-out position of the nudger roller 64 is controlled corresponding to the remainders of the sheets on the stacking rack 56 to permit the sheets pushed out of the nudger roller 64 to abut on the retard roller 68 within a proper range.</p> |
