PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monolayer fabric for paper manufacturing having low water-holding ability, high abrasion resistance, good surface smoothness, the good fiber supporting ability of the wefts with auxiliary wefts in place. SOLUTION: This monolayer fabric comprises warps, wefts provided with long crimps on the traveling face side and auxiliary wefts arranged among the wefts; wherein the fabric body formed of both the warps and the wefts represents 4/1 construction, the auxiliary wefts forming crimps corresponding to two consecutive warps on the paper manufacturing face side are arranged as a set of two among the wefts of the fabric body, and both the auxiliary wefts forming a set are arranged under the warps at an intermediate position between a position where a warp passes under a weft and a position where the succeeding warp passes under the weft, and at the other positions, either one of the auxiliary wefts forming a set is arranged above a warp.
