PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for reforming slag, by which MnO and FeO in the slag can surely be reduced without developing entrapment of the slag and change of molten steel components. SOLUTION: In the method for reforming the slag, by which oxygen concentration of the slag on the molten steel in a ladle is reduced, a slag reforming material containing >=30 mass% MgO and containing >=10 mass% total content of one or more reducing materials among Si, Al, Ti and Zr is added onto the slag surface to reduce lower-grade oxides in the slag.
