摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To uniformly secure a necessary gap between two glass substrates of a liquid crystal display device and to effectively prevent individual members laminated between the two glass substrates from peeling. SOLUTION: On the internal surface of a segment glass substrate 21 at the part of a seal material 23, a black matrix 31 made of chromium, a planarizing film 33 made of acrylic resin, and a segment electrode 34 are laminated in this order. In this case, the circumferential edge part of the black matrix 31 is provided up to a position which is a proper length L inside the end surface of the segment glass substrate 21. The circumferential edge part of the planarizing film 33 is provided up to nearby the end surface of the segment glass substrate 21 outside the circumferential edge part of the black matrix 31 while covering the peripheral edge part of the black matrix 31. The circumferential edge part of the planarizing film 33 is fixed to the internal surface of the segment substrate 21. Consequently, peeling between the two mutually aligned glass substrates 21 and 22 can effectively be prevented as compared with a case wherein the circumferential edge part of the black matrix 31 is provided up to nearby the end surface of the segment glass substrate 21.
