PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To widen a printable region on a printing paper to a relative moving range of a printing head in relation to the printing paper while maintaining high quality of a printing result. SOLUTION: This printing apparatus has the printing head equipped with a plurality of nozzles arranged at a nozzle pitch k×D (D: main scanning line pitch, k: two or more integral numbers). In the printing apparatus, an unit scanning operation including the k time main scanning and (k-1) time sub- scanning by the first prescribed feeding amount (m×D) (m: two or more and principle integral numbers) is carried out. During intervals at each unit scanning operation, the sub-scanning by the second prescribed feeding amount which is different from the first feeding amount is carried out. When the number of nozzles is N, the second feeding amount is N×K-m×(k-1)}×D. In this way, the quality of printing result can be improve. Furthermore, the printable region in relation to the relative moving region of the printing head to the printing paper can be widened. |
