PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a low electric power consumption of a liquid crystal display device which has a partial display function to divide a screen into a display region and a non-display region without adversely affecting the display. SOLUTION: The device has a liquid crystal panel 1, a gate driver 2 which applies selection voltages to the scanning electrodes of the panel, a source driver 3 which supplies signal voltages of display data to the panel, a driving voltage forming circuit 4 which forms voltage levels required to drive the panel and supplies the voltage levels to the gate and the source drivers, a controller 5 which forms the signals to control these circuits and controls these circuits by the signals, a time division control circuit 7 which controls the scanning of the scanning electrodes of the non-display region portion so that the scanning is conducted in a time division manner and a power supply 6. The power consumption of the device is reduced by reducing the scanning term.
