PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position-measuring apparatus which can measure the distance between a reference position and an object to be detected or the position of the object, even when the object is under ground or in water. SOLUTION: This position-measuring apparatus includes first to third excitation coils which are respectively arranged on each axis of a three-axis coordinate system placed at a first point, a first switching circuit 14 for exciting the coils in sequence, first to third detection coils which are respectively arranged on each axis of a three-axis coordinate system arranged at the position of an object to be detected, a second switching circuit 16 for extracting the output in sequence, and a voltage extraction circuit. Voltage measurement is repeated, and an induced voltage obtained from each detection coil is used to conduct in-advance specified computation, calculating the distance between the first point and a changed position or the changed position, when the combination of the first to third detection coils is changed.
