PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for controlling an automatic transmission control system capable of inhibiting deterioration of the durability of a transmission by preventing the simultaneous engagement of an engagement clutch and a friction clutch. SOLUTION: The control device 8 controls the friction clutch 4 when one speed is changed to the other speed in a gear-type transmission. A friction clutch engagement detecting means 10 detects the engagement condition of the friction clutch 4. An engagement clutch engagement detecting means 9 detects the engagement condition of the engagement clutch 3. A simultaneous engagement determination means 11 determines the simultaneous engagement of the two clutches based on the output of the friction clutch engagement detecting means 10 and the engagement clutch engagement detecting means 9. A compulsory releasing means 12 releases compulsorily at least one clutch 3 or 4 when the simultaneous engagement determination means 11 determines that the two clutches are simultaneously engaged. |
