PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tilt mechanism for an outboard motor enlarging the steering angle of an outboard motor body while preventing interference between an upper case and a clamping bracket. SOLUTION: In this tilt mechanism for the outboard motor, a swivel bracket 12 is disposed between a pair of right and left clamping brackets 2, and the upper part is rotatably journalled to the upper part of the clamping bracket 2 by a tilting shaft 4. The lower limit position of the outboard engine body is changed by a tilt pin 24 selectively inserted through a pair of mutually facing right and left pinholes 23-2 out of a plurality of pinholes 23-1-23-5 bored each of a pair of right and left clamping brackets 2. A plurality of pinholes 23-1-23-5 are arranged in each clamping bracket 2 approximately into circular arc shape from the side view. The circular arc is shaped so that the center O is positioned in the height direction between the pinhole 23-5 in the uppermost stage and the pinhole 23-1 in the lowermost stage, and the outline shape of the pinhole part 2A of each clamping bracket 2 is formed into approximately circular arc shape from the side view along the shape of the circular arc. |
