PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester thick and thin multifilament yarn that has extremely very low frequency of manifestation of the thick parts while the thick parts are long, consequently, when the woven or knitted fabric made of this yarn is dyed, the frequency of the occurrence of deep dyed part is extremely lowered and the deeply dyed parts are blight and long whereby the woven or knitted fabric that can give a grain appearance and provide the woven or knitted fabrics that give grain-patterned fabrics, when they are dyed. SOLUTION: Polyester undrawn filaments are drawn as the drawing tension is altered under the conditions satisfying the followings: (a) the roller that can change the position within the drawing area; (b) the movable roller and the guide rotate by coming into contact with the running yarns; (c) the movable roller is allowed to move the positions in 3-30 cm whereby the tension of the yarns are altered; (d) the tension-increasing speed <= the drawing speed×1/20; (e) the drawing speed×1/10 <= the tension relaxation speed <= the drawing speed, (f) the alteration times of the movable roller <= the drawing speed×3/10 and (g) MDR×0.5 <= draw ratio <= MDR×0.66; to produce the objective thick and thin yarns.
