PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shift lever device for a vehicle to be easily controlled with less restriction on the energizing force than a conventional device. SOLUTION: The shift lever device 10 for the vehicle comprises an interlocking member 20 to make linear reciprocating motion, interlocking with a shift lever, a driven member 30 to be pushed out of the locus of movement of the interlocking member 20 by the interlocking member 20, a stopper member 40 capable of entering/going out of the locus of movement of the interlocking member 20 and moving independently of the driven member 30, an electromagnet 50 having a plunger 52 connected to the stopper member 40 to hold the stopper member 40 at a position outside the locus of movement of the interlocking member 20 when carrying a current, a first spring 60 for energizing the stopper member 40 in the direction out of the locus of movement of the interlocking member 20 via the driven member 30, and a second spring 70 for energizing the driven member 30 and the stopper member 40 in the direction for the driven member 30 and the stopper member 40 to come close to be brought into contact with each other. In the shift lever device 10, the force of the electromagnet 50 for holding the stopper member is larger that the energizing force of the second spring 70.
