PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a meter that is constituted, so that the information displayed on a display panel through the opening of a light-shielding cover provided between a light transmitting plate and the display panel and the light transmitting plate becomes visible together with the information fixedly displayed on the light transmission plate in a sense of unity. SOLUTION: The opening 91 of the cover 90, provided between the light transmission plate 70 and liquid crystal panel 40, faces the displaying surface section 41 of the panel 40. When displaying light, containing a digital car-speed value, is made to incident to the plate 70 from the displaying surface section 41 of the panel 40 through the opening 91, the light is emitted from the partial surface of the plate 70, corresponding to the surface section 41. The rear surface 73 of the plate 70 is formed in an uneven surface, and the plate 70 scatters the incident light from a light source 100 by the uneven surface 73. Consequently, the boarder of the opening 91 of the cover 90 will not be visible from the light transmission line 70, because the uneven surface 73 shines.
