PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dryer in which lightweight foreign matters are discharged from matters being dried during drying operation, and sorted and collected. SOLUTION: The dryer comprises a preliminary dryer 2, a main dryer 1, and an introduction pipe 5 for supplying hot exhaust air from the main dryer 1 to the preliminary dryer 2 wherein the preliminary dryer 2 comprises an opening 16 made in a throw-in opening door 15 or in the vicinity thereof or in the vicinity of an intermediate door 8 in order to exhaust a part of hot exhaust air from the main dryer 1 to the outside of the dryer, a duct 17 for exhausting a part of hot exhaust air and lightweight foreign matters from the exhausting opening 16 to the outside of the dryer, and a section 18 provided at one end of the exhaust duct 17 on the outer side of the dryer in order to collect the lightweight foreign matters.
