PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shield for a bottom of water, which prevents the water from spouting into the shield. SOLUTION: This shield 1 for the bottom of the water is used to construct a tunnel in the bottom of the water; a wedge-shaped thrust-aside part 4, the rear of which is inclined to an upside so that front sediment 3 can be thrust aside to water-bottom surfaces 12 on both sides in a width direction, is provided on the downside of an end of a shield frame 2; and excavation is carried out while the sediment 3 at the bottom of the water is pushed away in such a manner as to make the upside located in the water and make the downside buried in the sediment 3.
