PURPOSE: An optical receiver having a ten-division photo diode is provided to reduce the costs and size of an optical pickup device by applying one two-wave laser diode and using one optical part. CONSTITUTION: An optical receiver having a ten-division photo diode includes photo diodes for CD including four focusing diodes and two tracking diodes; four photo diodes for DVD arranged in a square leaving an interval of set distance with the focusing diodes on a line vertical to the arrangement direction of the photo diodes for CD; a first adder(38a) adding output of the focusing diodes; a second adder(38b) adding output of the photo diodes for DVD; a comparator(39) comparing the output of the first adder and the output of the second adder, and providing a switching signal according to the result of the comparison to an input selector(36) and an output selector(SW); the input selector selecting the output of the focusing photo diodes or the output of the photo diodes for DVD according to the switching signal; and the output selector selecting the output of the first adder or the output of the second adder.
