PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently and industrially advantageously producing carbonyl compounds through dehydrogenation of alcohols, being capable of withdrawing the ability of a catalyst without excess amount of a hydrogen acceptor, and further capable of raising the reaction rate even when the reaction temperature is lowered. SOLUTION: In the method for producing carbonyl compounds through dehydrogenation of alcohols using a transition metal complex catalyst, the method is characterized by executing the reaction under a reduced pressure below the atmosphere.
