PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To greatly improve detection accuracy of wrong enclosing in an wrong enclosing detection method, when automatically enclosing enclosures and forms in an envelope in an enclosing encapsulation apparatus. SOLUTION: The enclosure encapsulation apparatus comprises an envelope thickness measuring means, a means for measuring detection target thickness, a means for detecting the same pattern, a primary envelope thickness discriminating means, a secondary enclosure thickness discriminating means, and a temporary storage means. The erroneous enclosing detection method goes through an envelope thickness measurement process S3, a detection target thickness measurement process S4, an identical pattern data detection process S17, a primary envelope thickness discrimination process S7, a secondary envelope thickness discriminating process S8, a pattern data update process S10, and a temporary storage process S9.
