PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the valve timing control responsibility from lowering resulting from that the flow resistance of the working fluid from a lock port into a hydraulic chamber increases in the previous equipment. SOLUTION: There are provided a cam shaft 4 relatively rotatable with a timing gear, a housing 3 secured to the timing gear, a vane member 6 being secured to a timing gear and forming a hydraulic chamber 17 at the timing gear side and a hydraulic chamber 18 at the retardant gear side across a partition in a housing, a hydraulic circuit for relatively rotating the housing and a vane member by selectively feeding and discharging the hydraulic pressure into/from the both hydraulic chambers corresponding to the engine running condition, and lock member 22 for locking the housing and vane member. A lock port 24 formed at an outer circumference part of a rotor 15 is formed in almost a cylindrical shape, a first oil part 31a of the hydraulic circuit is connected, as well as a taper face 33 of a cone shape is formed at a port edge part of an opening end 24a at a port 23 side of sliding.
