PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To light a lamp without degrading the performance of the lamp. SOLUTION: The processor 10 of an electronic endoscopic apparatus is internally provided with a lamp operation time detecting circuit 30 including a second CPU 31. When a lamp switch 46B or power source switch 46A is operated in order to put out the lamp 12, the second CPU 31 detects the put out time. When the lamp switch 46B is operated in order to light the lamp 12, the second CPU 31 detects the operation time. A first CPU 24 keeps the lamp 12 put out until the prescribed hours are exceeded by judging whether the put-out hours from the put-out time to the operation time exceeds the prescribed hours or not.
