PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for solving inconvenience of erroneously discharging unpolished rice into a polished rice holder section from a hopper where rice to be polished is thrown in, by means of automatizing opening and closing of a shutter equipped between the outlet port of the hopper for holding unpolished rice and the polished rice storing section, in a slanted circulating type home-use rice polisher. SOLUTION: A gradient that the inlet is low and the outlet is high is provided in regard to a rice-polishing chamber 7 and a rice-polishing roll 3 inserted therein, and a polished rice storing chamber 14 is prepared below an outlet 6, where the rice-polishing roll 3 is traversing, via a shutter 13, and the shutter 13 is arranged to close when the rice in the polishing hopper 5 is not sufficiently polished or rice is not present in the polishing hopper 5, based on the result detected by the rice presence/absence sensor and polishing degree sensor equipped at the outlet 6.
