PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for guiding bar steel, which prevents geometric sliding of bar steel held by a guide roll of a three-roll rolling mill or a four-roll rolling mill. SOLUTION: A bar steel W, held at the free faces with four guide rollers g1-g4, is guided to a roll hole mold. The shapes of holding surfaces g of respective guide rolls g1-g4 are adjusted to straight recesses of thread portions j of calibers of a forming roll 1A of the precedent pass. Thereby sliding of the bar steel W at the holding surfaces of the guide rolls is prevented.
