PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new protein having a Ca<+2> channel activity, a DNA encoding the protein, to provide a method for screening a compound capable of promoting or inhibiting the activity of the protein and to obtain the compound, etc., obtained by the method for screening. SOLUTION: The protein containing an amino acid sequence which is the same or substantially the same as an amino acid sequence represented by a specific sequence is useful as diagnostic marker, to the like, for central nervous system diseases or cerebrovascular diseases. The compound obtained by the method for screening using the protein and capable of promoting or inhibiting the activity of the protein can be used as a prophylatic or a therapeutic agent for diseases, e.g. myopathies, central nervous system diseases or cerebrovascular diseases. |
