PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stick shape container which can prevent push-back of a chemical by reaction force upon use regardless of pushed out condition (volume) of the content and securely keep operability upon pushing in/out the content. SOLUTION: An operating piece 24 with an operating part 50 for a chemical C(content) is bent into a U-shape and housed in the main body 12 and an operating knob 26 is fixed to the operating piece 24 from the outside of the main body 12. A claw part 39 is equipped in a guide passage 16 of the operating piece 24 and engaging teeth 54 are formed on the operating piece 24. The engaging teeth 54, etc., are constituted so as to be capable of obstructing movement of the operating piece in a direction to house the chemical C. The gap of the guide passage 16 is set so that the engaging teeth 54 and the claw part 39 are brought into an engaging condition when a load is further loaded on the chemical C in the housing direction and, on the other hand, the engaging condition between the engaging teeth 54 and the claw part 29 is released when the operating knob 26 is operated to house the chemical C.
