PURPOSE: A method for manufacturing a field emission display is provided to prevent deterioration of field emission characteristics by compensating for the damage of surface of the emitter. CONSTITUTION: A method for manufacturing a field emission display, comprises a first step of forming a plurality of cathode electrodes(6) on a substrate(4); a second step of forming an emitter containing carbon based material on each cathode electrode; a third step of depositing a liquid emitter surface treatment agent(20) on the substrate in such a manner that the emitter is covered with the emitter surface treatment agent; a fourth step of solidifying the emitter surface treatment agent; and a fifth step of permitting the carbon based material to be exposed from the surface of the emitter by removing the solidified emitter surface treatment agent from the substrate through the use of physical energy.
