PURPOSE: A transcoding device for a video snap image is provided to easily and promptly search the contents of the wanted video image by decoding video snap images in advance when searching a video. CONSTITUTION: A transcoding device for a video snap image includes a video decoder variable length decoding input video bit stream before executing an IDCT(Inverse Discrete Cosine Transform) and an inverse quantizing; a DC extracting part(201) extracting only a DC component from a DCT coefficient of the variable length decoded macro block; an adder(202) standardizing DC components of a plurality of macro blocks if the extracted DC component is a brightness; a DPCM part(203) obtaining and outputting a difference between the DC component of the brightness standardized at the adder or the DC component of a color output from the DC extracting part, and the DC component of the previous macro block; a Huffman coding part(204) Huffman coding the difference output from the DPCM part; and a storage device storing the Huffman coded snap image and the video bit stream. |
