PURPOSE: An LCD array substrate and a fabricating method thereof are provided to form common wires of storage capacitors to be most adjacent to thin film transistors in the centers of pixel areas, thereby minimizing the areas occupied by the black matrix and increasing the aperture rates. CONSTITUTION: An LCD array substrate includes a substrate, gate wires and common wires(65) formed on the substrate, gate electrodes(63) protruded from the gate wires, a gate insulating film covering the gate wires and the gate electrodes, a semiconductor layer formed corresponding to the gate electrodes on the gate insulting film, source electrodes(73) formed on the semiconductor layer and the gate insulating film and connected to data wires, drain electrodes(75) formed on the semiconductor layer and the gate insulating film and facing the source electrodes, a protecting layer covering the gate and data wires and the source and drain electrodes and having contact holes(91) for exposing the drain electrodes, and pixel electrodes(85) connected to the drain electrodes via the contact holes, wherein the drain electrodes are expanded in pixels to overlap the common wires via the gate insulating film.
