PURPOSE: A tread rubber composition for a tire is provided, to improve the dispersibility of a reinforcing agent, thereby enhancing the hardness and the abrasion resistance without deterioration of the tensile strength, the mileage, the braking property and the operation stability. CONSTITUTION: The tread rubber composition comprises 100 phr of a rubber comprising 50-95 phr of a rubber selected from the group consisting of an emulsion polymerization styrene-butadiene rubber, a solution polymerization styrene-butadiene rubber and their mixture, and 5-50 phr of a butadiene rubber; and 2-10 phr of a nanoclay. The nanoclay comprises 10-30 wt% of clay and 70-90 wt% of a resin. Preferably the clay has a density of 2.3±0.5, a height between layers of 0.5±5.0 nm, and an average particle size of 1.0-8.0 micrometers; and the resin is selected from the group consisting of an octylphenol resin, a phenol resin containing a butyl group and an octyl group in the ratio of 1:1, and an octylphenol formaldehyde resin.
