LCD BACKLIGHT UNIT USING EXTERNAL ELECTRODE FLUORESCENT LAMPS

PURPOSE: A backlight unit using external electrode fluorescent lamps for a liquid crystal display device is provided to realize the fabricating of a surface light source with higher luminance uniformity than a direct type backlight unit and reduce the heat generation amount of an LCD panel due to the electrodes of the fluorescent lamps. CONSTITUTION: An LCD backlight unit using external electrode fluorescent lamps includes an inverter(90) for generating first and second voltages by using a DC voltage and supplying the voltages via first and second output lines(120,122), a plurality of external electrode fluorescent lamps(110) disposed on a same plane surface in sequence and having electrodes(112) connected to the first and second output lines, a ground connected to opposite electrodes, and a base(100) fixing and receiving the fluorescent lamps.
