PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for manufacturing steel gratings are provided to increase productivity of steel gratings by automatically aligning idle bars to accurate sizes, and increase productivity by continuously advancing steel gratings set in a transfer car into dies holder of a press in a certain distance. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus for manufacturing steel gratings comprises transfer cars(200) on which steel gratings are mounted, and at the four directions of the bottom of which travelling rolls are installed so that the transfer cars are travelled, wherein idle bars are arranged at the steel gratings, and twist bars are connected to the steel gratings; travelling rails(700) which are arranged so that the transfer cars are travelled in a cycle; and a pressing press which is arranged on the travelling rails(700) to press the steel gratings on the transfer cars so that the twist bars are pressed onto the idle bars, wherein the transfer cars comprise fixed support aligners on which a plurality of injection grooves are formed; setting support aligners on which dimensional compensation grooves are formed, wherein the dimensional compensation grooves are overlappingly installed at the fixed support aligners so that the dimensional compensation grooves are longitudinally moved; and projecting distance pins which are formed on the bottom of the transfer cars with spaced apart from each other in a certain distance, and a step driving part is installed on the bottom of the pressing press to travel the transfer cars(200) in a certain distance.
