[Also in Division A4] A carton for holding continuous strip or other material in roll or folded form for withdrawal in predetermined lengths is made from a cardboard or like blank, Fig. 1, scored to provide front, bottom, rear and top walls 10, 11, 12, 13 which are held in erected position by securing inturned flaps 19 to the inner face of upturned end walls 16 and end wall flaps 18 to the inside of front wall 10. As shown in Figs. 1 and 4, the top wall or cover 13 has a flap 14 with a reinforcing tab 15 for insertion within the front wall 10 and the top edge of the latter is cut away at 21 to provide a central arresting tab 20 and guide tabs 22 whereby the material, slit centrally at intervals, e.g. at 24, can be withdrawn from the container, engaged by the tab 20 and severed along perforations 23. Alternatively, the cover may have a front flap with an arresting tab co-operating with a similar tab on the front wall, Fig. 6 (not shown), or a dispensing aperture traversed by a single arresting tab or by two co-operating curved tabs may be formed in the cover or in another wall. In a further embodiment, Fig. 9, the front wall 60 has an inwardly extending flap 69 with an arresting tab 70 which underlies a tab 65 on the cover 61, which has tongues 67 engaging slots 68 in the front wall.</p> |
