<p>According to the present invention there is provided a ceramic foam filter for molten metal filtration comprising a preferably substantially flat inlet portion, an intermediate portion and an outlet portion that incorporates an undulating surface defining peaks and valleys. Making the outlet portion or surface irregular as described herein provides paths for entrapped air to escape or vent during start-up, thereby significantly reducing or eliminating the need for potentially harmful corrective action, such as rapping, to achieve a rapid filter start-up.</p> |
