<p>The invention features the use of CITED nucleic acids and proteins in improved methods for detecting compounds that modulate estrogen receptor-dependent activity. These methods provide a sensitive assay for the detection of environmental estrogen mimics and, therefore, are useful in assessing the potential health risks associated with compounds present in our surroundings. In addition, these methods may be used to identify compounds beneficial for the treatment or prevention of an estrogen-related condition. The invention also features diagnostic and prognostic methods for estrogen-related disorders that involve CITED protein or nucleic acid assays.</p> |
