<p>It is intended to find out genes required in the production of aphidicolin, which is a DNA polymerase a-specific inhibitor playing an important role in the replication of eucaryotes, and express these biosynthases in a foreign microorganism the culture method of which has been established to thereby enable mass production of aphidicolin. Genes encoding a GGDP synthase, a cyclase and enzymes catalyzing oxidation in three stages which are required in the biosynthesis of a DNA polymerase α-specific inhibitor aphidicolin; a gene of the tolerance against aphidicolin toxicity; proteins encoded by these genes and aphidicolin; and processes for producing the same.</p> |
