EXTENDIBLE DRAIN MEMBERS FOR GROUNDING RFI/EMI SHIELDING

An RFI/EMI shield (10) formed of interlaced conducting and non-conducting filaments (14). The shield (10) takes the form of a sleeve (12) with a longitudinal seam (30), and is biased so that free edges (32 and 34) definin g the seam (30) are positioned in overlapping relation. A pair of filamentary drain wires (16 and 18) are continiously interlaced with filamentary members (14) forming the sleeve (12) and the other drain wires (16 and 18) are interlaced at lengthwise along the sleeve (12). Between the attachment regions, the drain wires (16 and 18) float on the surface of the sleeve (12) and are extendible away from the sleeve (12) for attachment to an electrical ground.
