A dough container of cylindrical shape has a side wall of laminated material with a weakening line extending longitudinally of the side wall, the lower part of the line being weaker than the upper part, and the average weakening along successive portions of the line decreasing progressively from the lower end of the side wall to the upper end. The container is formed from a blank having a strip of thermoplastic adhesive along one edge, and made up of an inner layer 8, Fig. 6 (not shown), of aluminium, a middle layer 12 of fibrous chipboard and an outer layer 10 of aluminium foil; the inner layer may have a vinyl coating. A metal tape 40 overlies the weakening line which is cut through layer 10 and into layer 12; the line may extend laterally at 20, 21, Fig. 1 (not shown), near metal end caps which are double seamed to the side wall. The weakening line may be diagonal or curved, e.g. helical; the container body may be entirely of metal, or of plastics material, or of fibrous material; the layer 12 only may be weakened; the variation in weakening may be effected by an interrupted cut-line of increasing depth; the tape 40 may be of fibre or plastics. On tearing the tape 40 as far as a transverse cut line 48, Fig. 4 (not shown), the pressure from the dough causes the container wall to burst.
