A method for operation of a decentralized control system with at least two independent control units (10,12) for control of one or more actuators (18,20) or positioning devices. The two control units are joined together in a network system so that the actuators can be controlled using two or more operating modes. The operating mode of the control units is selection by a transmitted signal.
