A baseband video transmission system (BTS1) for transmitting a video signal (SV) in a baseband conforming to the DVI standards. A transmission apparatus (100) multiplexes a data signal (SD) expressing other than video and generates a DVI signal (Sdvi) during blanking periods (VBP, HBP) of at least one (SR) of component video signals (SB, SG, SR) of the video signal (SV). A reception apparatus (104) receives the DVI signal (Sdvi) and extracts the data signal (SD) from the DVI signal (Sdvi) received.
