The invention relates to a method for drying aqueous paint which is applied to an object in paint installations, and to a device for carrying out the method. The disturbing influences of the water content and the organic solvent content on the tone and the brilliance of the colour are eliminated by a combination of condensation drying stages and a convection drying stage. The device for carrying out the method consists essentially of a cabin chamber (1) comprising a transport device in which the following are provided in the following order: a pre-drying area (2), a first and a second condensation drying stage (3) and (4), a convection drying stage (5) and a cooling area (6).
