Polycyclene chains with 2-12 cyclene units (e.g. 1,4-phenylene or 1,4-cyclohexylene) linked together by various bonds or groups, at least one of which must be an oxydifluoromethylene group, and with various reactive groups at both ends of the chain. Chain-type polycyclenes (PC) with 2-12 cyclene units selected from 1,3- or 1,4-phenylene, 2,6- or 2,7-naphthylene, 1,4-cyclohexylene, bicyclopentylene, bicyclo-octylene and cubylene (optionally substituted with one or more halogen, cyano, alkyl, fluoroalkyl, alkoxy and/or fluoroalkoxy groups), linked together by bridging groups selected from single bonds, -CF2O-, -OCF2-, -O-, -S-, -SO2-, -CO-, -NH-, -(CH2)n- or -(CF2)n-; n = 1-10 , -CH(CH3)-, -CH(CCl)3-, -CH(CF3)-, -C(CH3)2-, -C(CF3)2-, -C equivalent to C-, -CH=CH-, -CF=CH-, -CH=CF-, CF=CF-, cyclopentane-1,1-diyl and cyclohexane-1,1-diyl, with the proviso that at least one bridging group is -CF2O- or -OCF2-, and with reactive groups at both ends of the chain selected from -OH, -NH2, -NCO, -NCS, -OCOCl, -COCl, -COF, -COOH, -COOAlkyl and carboxylic anhydride groups. An Independent claim is also included for polymers with CF2O groups, obtained by polycondensation of monomers (A) and optionally (B), both types consisting of polycyclene chains with suitable reactive and co-reactive end groups.
